Managing Your Home Business Cash Flow

May 12th, 2010 by admin

Whatever kind of home business you run it is vitally important that you keep an eye on your cash flow. If you don't it is very easy to run into problems - and that can happen even if you are quite successful.

When you first start out you have to think about how you will fund your business. This may vary significantly depending on what kind of business you run. For example many internet businesses can be run on a shoestring budget, provided you have already got a computer and internet access of course. But other businesses may require thousands of pounds to set them up. It all depends on what you want to do and how much equipment you want to buy to be able to do that job.

Over the years' I have tried and tested several home networking businesses, and so I have some experience in reviewing he key points to look out for.

Home Business with a Professional Image

December 25th, 2009 by admin

Most of us can easily list off 5 professional, and consequently unprofessional, business experiences we've had recently. Our interaction with these businesses may have been in the form of an email, a retail shopping experience, or a telephone conversation. In several cases, the deciding factor between a professional and an unprofessional experience may have been something so small, so simple, yet so significant.

Running a home-based business often means wearing the hat of everyone from order taker to customer service specialist. A stickler for a 'professional' image, I believe it is essential I constantly make myself aware of how clients, contractors and the public are viewing my business practices. As the sole owner of my Virtual Assistant business, I have to - nobody else is going to do it for me!

Successful Home Business, Is it Just Luck?

December 8th, 2009 by admin

Wanting your MLM business to work, and believing it will work are two different things.

I could never get my head wrapped around how many people I needed to talk to - that would get my home business to the level I wanted to achieve.

I knew the leaders had 20,000, 40,000, or even 60,000 people in their organization. They seemed to be making good money, but they never could tell me exactly what they were making, or even a clear cut formula.

I had a brick and mortar business that was successful, and I never believed in the compensation plan. My overhead was always so high there were no profits. I loved that business and was extremely passionate about it, and driven to make it work.

CEOs and Communication

November 12th, 2009 by admin

I see a PR firm has done a survey on the amount of time Canadian CEOs spend on communication. According to the survey, CEOs spend almost half of their time on communication.

I think we're supposed to be impressed that CEOs spend that much time on communication. But, quite frankly, what else does a CEO do? And, if you consider both direct and indirect communication, wouldn't that be more like 90%?

So, what do CEOs do, and how much of that involves communication of one kind or another?

Well, they make decisions. But before they make them, good CEOs get information from specialists in their organization. They also may check other options by reading newspapers and magazines, attending conferences, and talking to their peers. All of which involve communication.
