START PLANNING FOR YOUR SUMMER REMODELS NOW
It's that time of year again. That's right, spring, a time for fresh ideas, new beginnings, and home remodeling. The season also marks the time when homeowners across the country seek out contractors who can turn their dream homes into reality through the process of remodeling. To commemorate May as National home improvement Month, the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) offers homeowners a few words of advice for planning their remodels.
Homeowners are advised not to wait until summer to start thinking about making changes to their homes. Finding the right design, choosing a professional contractor, and securing the necessary financing for a home improvement project can sometimes take months, so NARI suggests that homeowners who want to start a project by summer start planning now.

You can buy a home with bad credit, but should you? And what is the best way to do it?
Yes you can buy a home with bad credit. But should you? That is the question you should answer before you ask the other questions about the best ways to go about it.
As I write this (spring 2007), the payments are coming in late on one out of eight sub-prime mortgage loans (the loans most likely to go to those with credit problems). As many more of these loans have their interest rates adjusted upwards, the problem will only get worse. At the moment tens of thousands of families are losing their homes each month.

Many of us choose the "guard dog" option over a home security system. But can a dog really be an effective protector of your home and family?
Many of us choose the "guard dog" option over a home security system. These "domestic canine security and affection units" seem like the perfect solution-you get an affectionate new member of the family, and save the money you would have spent installing a burglar alarm. But can a dog really be an effective protector of your home? Some dog owners are proud of the way a young puppy guards, and boast about it to their friends. However, they will more than likely be sorry if they don't check this behavior while the puppy is still young, as this may develop into aggressive behavior towards strangers in general, whether or not they are welcome in your home. This leads to bites, and possible lawsuits and/or being forced by the authorities to put down your pet. You must properly train your dog at the minimum age of 12 to 14 months that a few warning barks are okay, but any further aggression will not be tolerated.

You and your family are relocating to Bangkok, Thailand and have finally found a place to rent. What do you do next and how can you secure that property before someone else does?
The first thing you should know is that properties change hands fast in Bangkok. I would imagine it's the same situation in any big cities, especially when the apartment is popular amongst expats. So, when you have finally found that one property you like, try to stop yourself from wanting to see more "just in case there is something else out there" because from my experience, people always come back to the first one they like. Those who are decisive move in weeks after, excited while those who hesitate too long end up settling for second best and sometimes, may even cost them more in rent.

Four Ways To Get Cheap Home Insurance
1. Lower the coverage on contents.
Some companies will have coverage minimums, but many will let you lower your contents coverage. So if you don't have $50,000 worth of things in your home, why pay for that much coverage? In any case, when you make a claim, the insurance company isn't going to pay for value that wasn't there. Of course they'll collect the higher premiums for it - but only if you let them.
